More shop time and other tales from the distancing

 I have been busier then ever during this time of  this unexpected times, but I do have less of a commute.  I have had some shop time so I had an idea to make a nice soap holder as we are all washing our hands more than ever.

I this one with removable inserts will fit the bill nicely, it fits on the “bar” between the two sinks. It’s pretty awesome.

Now off to finish/waterproof but for now I am happy with this little project,

 

So much has happened in the world in the last weeks... I thought I would talk a moment and reflect. I have been working from home due to Corvid-19, time to think and play in the wood shop. Here is how my brain starts with an idea then I let the project find its own way to completion.

Here was an idea I had, it changed as it progressed and ended up with the beautiful result below. 

Walk in the park

Today I had to park away, and walk in to the south office.  The inconvenience of the entire affair faded away as I was suddenly and without warning struck by the beauty of the morning.  #countyourblessings #stopandsmelltheroses.

Today I was in the field...

 Today would have been my father's birthday. This year seems more melancholy than most as this is the year I will outlive his age and I dont know why but this just does not sit well with me.

I was able to meet up with a friend and walked with him and his 9 mo old dog to flush some pheasants out of the brush.

It brought back some memories of hunting with my father when I was very young and just for a few fleeting moments, I felt like he would have approved.

It was a bittersweet day capping a bittersweet year and despite the company I felt more alone than normal.

I was on target, the weather was perfect for this time of year and he declared the day a success as anyone would have. In fact I agreed with him.

Still I left uneasy setting the rest of the day up on an awkward foot.

Ran into this proud lady today...

Chatted for a bit but she had to run suddenly when her Uber showed up early. Still it was nice to see things from her perspective if only for a short while.

 This 4th of July, I turned this salvaged door into a beautiful portal from the shop into the Kitchen.  Cost of door $0 , hardware $30.00, sweat equity???

Results... Priceless.

 In the woodshop this weekend making a faux "barrel" for wedding cards for the upcoming family Wedding.


Since it is at a winery, wine themed decorations seem are called for and we found something similar on-line. I just did what I do and viola!

The Murphy bed project is finally coming together. Its not like I had a lot of other things going on or anything but we needed another bed in the small bedroom and this seemed to do the trick. I was going to buy one but building one seamed much more fulfilling. Honestly, it was. More photos later when it is all finished.

It is going to be a busy week, I have a lot to do before the end of the year.

 Lately I have found some time to get into the wood shop.
The new CNC machine has proven to be ALOT of fun.

My new currency is time. I wish I had more of it and every bit of it I have is precious.
